A massive V8 engine is required for this heavy duty vehicle, supplying huge amounts of power and towing capacity accompanied by a spacious cabin. A close-cousin of Ford’s Super Duty line, the Excursion is large and authoritative yet practical. With the enhancements that this Excursion has seen, you can add ‘beautiful’ to the long list of adjectives describing this full-sized sport utility vehicle.

The RAD Rides team has also recently worked on numerous pick-up trucks, including the ever-popular F-250 Super Duty. Like the Excursion, the F-250 Super Duty can be equipped to have a large passenger capacity along with one of the biggest towing capacities in its class. Upgrades like power running boards, towing kits, bedliners, wheels tires and more make the possibilities infinite with aftermarket accessories from RAD Rides.

Our highly-trained team of performance accessory specialists at RAD-Rides is ready to walk you through every element of the custom car creation process. Best-in-Class Honors for 2015 Super Duty

2015 Super DutyReed Has It could not be more excited about the all-new 2015 Ford Super Duty. With the news that the Ford F-Series Super Duty will deliver best in class horse power, torque and towing capacity, the Super Duty is poised to be one of Ford’s best trucks yet.

Ford notes the second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke® V8 turbo diesel extends horsepower to a class-leading 440 horsepower and torque to a class-leading 860 lb.-ft. for all models. The Ford F-350 will have an option that includes a maximum towing package that boosts fifth-wheel/gooseneck trailer towing capacity to 26,500 pounds. It raises the gross combined weight rating to an remarkable 35,000 pounds.

F-Series Decade of GrowthOf course, we can’t forget the Ford F-450?  The chassis upgrades expand its maximum gooseneck trailer towing capacity to class-leading 31,200 pounds, fifth wheel towing capacity to class-leading 26,500 pounds and a gross combined weight rating to an unbelievable class-leading 40,000 pounds.

These upgraded statistics are the result of restructuring and re-engineering the truck to perform as as integrated system.  The fresh approach allowed Ford engineers to optimize performance across the entire F-Series lineup.

Robert Fascetti, Ford vice president power train engineering, mentioned that, “The 6.7-liter Power Stroke was already a stout engine. The improvements we’ve made essentially give Super Duty customers an engine designed for our larger F-650 and F-750 trucks.” He says, many may not realize how “built Ford tough” their engine is.

Some of the key modifications on the 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel include its compacted graphite iron engine block and reverse-flow layout. This segment-exclusive design has the exhaust inside the engine’s V-shape, while the air intake is affixed to the outside yielding a variety of improvements.

Other changes include a bigger turbocharger for quicker air displacement which results what all truck owners want — more power. The engine block is compacted graphite iron. It is stronger but lighter than traditional cast iron. It is also more wear-resistant and has enhanced sealing properties.

New injector tips spray a finer mist of fuel into the cylinders which allows for a more complete burn and it also helps in reducing noise, vibration and harshness. Other perks include lower emissions and less fuel deposit buildup on the intake valves over the course of time.
